Gene & Carly

Sorrento Wedding

This incredible wedding took place at a private residence on the beautiful Morning Peninsula. It was a truly romantic wedding with soft linen and natural sisal styling with palms, olive trees, white hydrangea and Queen Anne's lace. We worked closely with florist Michael Strownix and the bride to create a relaxed but super chic space for Carly and Gene's family and friends to enjoy.

When Carly and Gene met with me (Sophie), we chatted extensively about what sorts of thing they liked, places they had spent time together, restaurants, parties and family occasions. We talked about a casual menu, with refinement and one that was centered around some personal experiences.

A good example was their main: they wanted to serve a shared pasta, in a big clear bowl, in the exact way they had had it in Italy only months before. So, I reached out to the restaurant, Trattoria 13 Gobbi who very enthusiastically sent me the recipe, including some tricks that they said were extremely important. The dish, giant rigatoni with tomato, buffalo mozzarella and basil was simple and superb. They instructed, if you toss the buffalo mozzarella in parmesan, it won't melt as fast and it'll have some texture to it.  It was a revelation, served with eye fillet, bowls of French fries and a simple caprese salad!  I really enjoyed watching people serve the rigatoni with the longs strings of mozzarella following their fork to their plates.
